Hotels Near the Blue Lagoon
Many people ask about hotels near the Blue Lagoon in southwest Iceland.
While I personally don’t think it’s worth it to stay at one of these hotels (they, and the Blue Lagoon, are about 40 minutes from Reykjavik and they are absurdly expensive for what you get), if you plan on spending a lot of time at the Lagoon or if you want to stay out of the city without having to drive too far, (or would prefer to stay close to the airport for an early departure) then they represent a good option.
Here are the hotels close to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland.
Hotel Keflavik
Hotel Keflavik is located in Keflavik town, a short drive away from the airport and the Blue Lagoon, and offering free shuttle rides to each. Offering a restaurant, bar, coffee shop and gym, the luxury hotel is not cheap, with rates for single rooms starting at 22,800 ISK (about $190) and doubles starting at 27,800.
Icelandair Hotel Flughotel
Also in Keflavik town, the Icelandair Hotel Flughotel offers 62 rooms with TV, radio, telephone, mini-bar, wireless Internet, and ensuite bathrooms. Standard rooms start at about 20,000 ISK per night.
There are accommodations available at the Blue Lagoon, and if you really want to spend significant time there, this is you best and most indulgent option. The rooms are decorated with sleep furnishings in muted colors and offer private bathrooms and small porches, TV and Internet access. The building also contains a dining room, living area, and a fitness room. Located less than five minutes by foot from the Blue Lagoon site, the rooms range from 140 euros for a double in low season to 240 euros per night in high season.
The Northern Light Inn
The Northern Light Inn is the closest hotel to the Blue Lagoon (other than the Blue Lagoon accommodations) and offers 32 cozy rooms with a view of the Blue Lagoon complex. A short drive from the Blue Lagoon and 15 minutes from the airport, the hotel offers free transfers to both as well as free internet and free breakfast. Rates start at 140 euros for a double in winter and go up to 190 for a double in summer peak season.
